Since I ways a little kid I always remember seeing Donald Trump on the front page of any newspaper. He was a notorious billionaire who always seemed to make big business deals. But whenever I would hear about Donald Trump it would always be negative stories. I would hear people say hes mean, cocky, and racist, etc. From an outside perspective it seemed like all he cared about was money. He would be on the cover of New York Times always at the end of a joke. Trump is not one to hold his tongue, he is definitely no angel but the media takes anything he says, blows it up and runs with it for a story. It seemed like since day 1 the media was going to portray Trump as a bad guy. To me it seems like the media takes a talented individual and creates stories that they think will sell. That is why I think it is time we stop paying attention the these media stories about guys like Donald Trump.
So as a young kid I believed all the naysayers and also started thinking Donald Trump was a bad guy. But recently I have been paying more attention to Trump. He has come out and decided to run for the 2016 presidential election. At first I thought it was a joke and he wasn't going to take it seriously. But then I started watching his debates and thought he made some good points. He speaks his mind and says things that most are thinking but are to scared to say. I started doing some research on Trump and I found out that he really is a smart businessman and not a big mouthed spoiled brat. Trump has made some great points for president. One thing that people don't like about Trump is that he speaks his mind. He thinks that illegal immigrants are ruining this country and he wants to deport them. He never said that they are bad people, he just doesn't want them in our country illegally. But the media will take an honest comment he said and turn it into a bad story saying that he is racist. For example the picture above. This is a picture right from one of the biggest newspapers in the country. Just from looking at the picture you would think that Trump is clown and that he hates Mexicans. The media is depicting Trump as a bad guy to millions before they even get the shot to see for themselves. To me this happens way to much. Famous celebrities like Trump get stereotyped so hard by the media they never stand a chance in the public eye. That is why you cant listen to everything the media says.
It doesn't matter if you like Donald Trump or not. Or if you are going to vote for him. Because the reality is not everyone is going to like Trump. But I want people to be able to have a fair chance when it comes to their reputation. The media and all the big time newspapers don't care about Trumps reputation they just want to make money off of him. And the second Trump becomes outdated or irrelevant the media will find someone new to pick on. Donald Trump was asked in a CNN interview "are you a nice guy"? to take he responded " yes, what people need to understand is im a very nice guy, the media has portrayed me as the bad guy for years". I'm going to end this blog by saying America should not believe everything they see in the media, especially when it comes to the 2016 presidential election.

I like that you really pointed out that Trump speaking his mind isn't a bad thing and that you looked at it from a different angle saying he wasn't necessarily bad.
ReplyDeleteSantino I really enjoy the angle you took on this blog post and really pulled the positives out about Trump. I can agree that growing up I watched the Apprentice actually with my Mom and I always saw him as such a strong business man (excessively mean sometimes) but I really enjoyed him. I really liked the fact that he does speak his mind and feelings as he should. I feel that the problem with politics and the way that the media portrays them just doesn't give us the honest truth. I really like that you took Trump being portrayed in the media and were like wait no he really is being a serious presidential candidate for 2016. And at that he is doing a solid job in my opinion getting press however he can because it really is bringing him higher in the polls. We listen to what the media portrays and take our own takes on it but you are right he is given such a negative joking light in the media it's hard for people to think of the serious aspect. I really enjoyed reading this thank you!
